Reading and Leeds Festival Just Gave Us a Lift: How to SKOOT Your Way There

With the news that live music events can kick off in the UK from June 21st, our 2021 festival season looks like it’s back in action… hallelujah. It’s probably best to not get ahead of ourselves with the roadmap out of Lockdown 3.0 – but thinking about it, how can we not?

Especially when you’ve got the likes of Rob Da Bank, founder of Bestival, talking about the sudden spike in interest in Google searches. Coincidence? We don’t think so.

And Live Nation today came out big and bold and announced Reading and Leeds are the first big-name music festivals to be taking place this year. A few weeks ago, we all would have been thinking that our summer will be spent walking around parks with one person from a different household. But now, we’ve got the chance to be dancing around fields to listening to live music from the likes of headlining acts such as Post Malone, Stormzy, Liam Gallagher plus many, many more.

So when is Reading and Leeds – August 27th – 29th (which just happens to be Bank Holiday)

Which might also mean Notting Hill Carnival in London might be back on.

This is all dependant on how successful the UK rollout of lockdown is and also the percentage of the population that’s been vaccinated. But there’s no reason as to why we can’t start to get excited.

Other hopeful festivals are:

  • Junction 2, London
  • Newsam Park, Leeds
  • Gala, London
  • Eastern Electrics

  • Boomtown, Winchester
  • We Out Here, Cambridgeshire
  • Parklife, Manchester

How can I get to the Festival using SKOOT?

Let’s paint a quick picture in your head. It’s the day of Reading and Leeds festival. You and a few mates wake up at the crack of dawn, pack the car up with your rucksacks, tents and cheap booze and get ready to get on your way.

First question being, who’s in charge of the aux cable? But the second and possibly the touchier of questions – who’s up for splitting the cost of the journey and taking the awks out of asking for money and working out the cost?

We all know the famous line of I’ll grab you a pint or I’ll transfer you later.

But with SKOOT you don’t have to worry!

Simply plug in the start and finish locations, add your friends to the lift, select the price and get on your way. Once the journey is complete, SKOOT will split the money between the passengers and pay the driver.

So when you get to the festival, don’t even worry about who owes you what, the app automatically sorts it for you. Get that thought out your head and make it a weekend to remember.

And it’s completely carbon negative too! For every three journeys, SKOOT plants a tree.
